Spokane Valley Tech
Now Enrolling!
2/15/2012
Serving as the host district, Central Valley is collaborating with East Valley School District, Freeman School District and West Valley School District to establish Spokane Valley Tech, a branch campus of the NEWTECH Skill Center in the Spokane Valley. Spokane Valley Tech will:
- Provide exciting, expanded opportunities for career and college readiness beyond what is available in high schools or the NEWTECH Skill Center, located in north Spokane
- Offer rigorous, high-quality programs designed to meet the current and emerging needs of high school students and regional employers.
- Strengthen partnerships with businesses and future employers. Planning is underway to identify programs of study that align with high-demand skilled occupations in the Spokane area and build upon existing programs.
- Offer flexible scheduling options providing educational opportunities for students within and outside the traditional school day.
- Classes began in September 2012 and moved to the new Spokane Valley Tech location in January 2013.
The location is a 51,450 square foot building at the southeast corner of University Road and Sprague Avenue that formerly housed Rite Aid. The site is ideal for its centralized proximity to collaborating school districts and the Valley Transit Center, as well as ample free parking. The $1.75 million purchase cost and improvements will be financed. These costs will be offset by revenue generated from per pupil (FTE) state funding and lease revenue from current tenant West Valley School District, making this a cost-neutral initiative.
