Central Valley Seeks Public Input on Capital Facilities

District to Hold Community Forum on November 12

Central Valley School District parents, residents and community members are encouraged to be part of the conversation about school buildings and facilities by participating in the Capital Facilities Community Forum. The forum will be held on November 12 from 7 - 8 p.m. at North Pines Middle School, 701 N. Pines Road.

The forum is the first in a series of three events planned this year to gather public feedback as the Central Valley School District works through the year-long process to develop a long range capital facilities plan. Members of the district’s Capital Facilities Planning Committee will facilitate the forum. Forum participants will hear an update on the planning process and then be asked to share ideas, perceptions and priorities about current and future school buildings in the Central Valley School District.

“Community involvement in the capital facilities planning process is vitally important,” explained Ben Small, superintendent. “We are working to set a clear direction for how to best maintain and expand the community’s investment in our school buildings. The plan will include recommendations for school modernization and new construction. Now is the time for our community to share their ideas and priorities.”

The 18-member Capital Facilities Planning Committee was formed in May 2009 to develop a six-year Capital Facilities Plan, including a 25-year long-range bond plan, based on a district-wide needs assessment and community input. Members include parents, government officials, industry experts and administrators who are working in an advisory capacity to the district’s Board of Directors. For more information, call 228-5411.
