Principal's Message

On behalf of the entire McDonald Staff, I’d like to welcome you to our school and our website.

McDonald Elementary, home of the Mustangs, is a school with about 360 students from diverse backgrounds. As the principal, it is my honor to lead our school forward along a continuous path of learning, and my pleasure to work with the teachers, community members, and children of this great school.

Established in 1956, McDonald Elementary is a school of proud traditions. More than a few of our students’ parents roamed our halls as students themselves. Community participation, support, and loyalty are inherent strengths of our school. As teachers, it is our responsibility to adapt to the ever changing influences of society while upholding the enduring values of education. All of our teachers and paraeducators are highly qualified as required by the federal No Child Left Behind legislation.

McDonald was completely remodeled in 2002 and impresses everyone with its appearance. Our custodial staff, Mr. Bennett and Mr. Brown, maintains the highest level standards for our facility. In addition, all of our classrooms are supported technologically with document cameras and LCD projectors. Our teachers work to incorporate all the educational benefits of technology into their classrooms.

I became the principal of McDonald at the beginning of the 2007-08 school year. Prior to that I was principal of a kindergarten through eighth grade school for four years, assistant principal for three, and a classroom teacher for seven years. All of my previous experience was in Southern California. It is my mission to support all of our students in reaching their highest academic potential. That means addressing all of their needs while challenging them to move forward. “Moving forward” is the same expectation that I hold for myself and all of our staff members. As the father of two students attending Central Valley schools, I believe I want the same thing that all parents want from the educational world: keep students’ love of learning alive, and help them reach their highest potential.

Sincerely,

Kevin Longworth, Principal
