Speech Language Pathologist
Liberty Lake Elementary has one full-time Speech Language Pathologist who deals with many aspects of communication. She focuses on the whole child while guiding students in developing their communication skills and enhancing their self-esteem, thereby influencing their learning environments, communities, and families. Her belief is that language is basic to learning. As well as working with language, she also deals with articulation, voice, fluency, and any other communication challenge that adversely impacts a student’s educational performance.
Language involves understanding others and expressing thoughts and ideas. Articulation is the ability to produce sounds used in forming words. A healthy voice requires the use of appropriate loudness, pitch, and quality. Fluency refers to the ability to speak using a smooth flow of words at an appropriate rate.
Mrs. Schreiner is new to Liberty Lake and new to being a Speech Language Pathologist. She recently graduated from Washington State University-Spokane with a masters in Speech Pathology, but unfortunately she is true to her first alma matta, University of Washington. Go Huskies! Mrs. Schreiner grew up in Spokane and loves being close to her family and her husband’s family. When not at Liberty Lake Mrs. Schreiner enjoys running, riding bikes, and camping.
Parents are encouraged to speak to their child’s teacher or to contact Mrs. Schreiner with any communication concerns they have for their children. She can be reached at 228-4348 or eschreiner@cvsd.org.
