Mrs. Allen

Classroom Environment

We are the Patriots of Liberty Lake Elementary! There are 27 students in our room. We are talented, creative fifth graders who are striving to be independent, responsible life-long learners.

I expect the boys and girls in my classroom to be active listeners and participants, as well as be kind and respectful to each other, the teacher and others'property. I want to build character, not tear it down.

In my room you may see us working individually, in small groups, or in a large group. I enjoy doing projects such as Book Reports, State Reports, or the Colonial Times Project.

About Me

I have taught for Central Valley School District for sixteen years in either 4th, 5th, or 6th grades. I have been with Liberty Lake Elementary since it opened in 1998. Currently I am teaching 5th grade in Room 136. Since my classroom was in the Liberty Room for the last two years, you're probably asking yourself if my fifth graders have the opportunity to cook. You bet!! I teach Cooking 101 which allows partners to prepare, cook and serve a tasty snack to the entire class. Yum! Learning has never tasted so good.

I love teaching and hearing from past graduates who have gone on to the middle school or high school.

I am married to my husband, Jim. Kristopher, my son, is twenty and is attending Eastern Washington University taking their Construction Technology program. He will be a senior this year. Michelle, my oldest, is married and works for Zak Designs. Aimee, my adopted Korean daughter, was married on May 3 rd, 2008, to Nick Brayman. She also has a teaching degree, but is using it in a new job at Zak Designs. Aimee works in the International Department and has the opportunity to travel to Germany, Japan and other parts of the world. Her five years of taking classes in Japanese have come in handy.

I have two black cats, which I adore. Teet sleeps at the foot of my bed every night. Bailee is our new 3 month old kitty. I love her, but she is an early riser and loves to watch the birds and run from one window to the next when it is time for me to sleep! She has claimed a spot between our pillows and sleeps there all night.

Have you heard that Jim and I enjoy traveling on our motorcycle during the summer? We love riding our new Harley Davidson Trike motorcycle which gives us time together. Mrs. Allen in leathers? Oh Yes!! This past summer we traveled 1,650 miles to the Oregon Coast. We went as far as Crescent City, California to see the Redwoods.
