Second Grade
Theme Three - Around Town: Neighborhood and Community

In this theme, students will read stories that take place in many different kinds of neighborhoods.  In phonics we will be teaching consonant digraphs th, wh, sh, ch and base words and endings -er, -est.  We will also work on compound words, vowel pairs, and suffixes.  We will continue working on summarizing, questioning, prediction, evaluating, making judgments, topic, main idea and details.  We are doing naming words, special nouns, and nouns that change spelling in the plural in Grammar.

For specific skills and spelling words for each story in this theme, please click the link organized by story title in the right hand column of this page.
