Second Grade
Theme Six - Talent Show

In this theme students will read some selections about talented characters.  Students will find out how the characters discovered their talents and how they got better at what they do. In phonics, we will learn about the vowel pairs oo, ew, ue, ou; long i (igh, ie) and base words with -ed and -ing endings where the final e must be dropped.  We will focus on the Reading Strategies evaluating; summarizing; and questioning, and the skills of identifying author's viewpoint; noting details; and problem solving.  Our focus in the grammar lessons will be on irregular verbs and adjectives.
