Classroom Environment

Mathematics is best learned when students are actively involved in the development of their conceptual understanding of the mathematics being taught. In order to do this students must be prepared for class every day with the necessary supplies, their homework completed, a good nights sleep, and a good breakfast and lunch.

I have high expectations for the students in regards to their effort and what they will learn. Discourse in the classroom is a vital part to student success, and is a major aspect of my classroom instruction. Students are expected to participate in small group and whole group discussions by asking questions, sharing their thinking, and answering questions asked by other students and the teacher. Homework is assigned Monday through Thursday, and there is a quiz on most Fridays.

I am available for extra help before school and after school as my schedule permits. If a student is struggling I expect them to come in for help and ask questions.
