About Me

Hi and welcome to my school counseling website at Greenacres Elementary, thanks for visiting! I am Mrs. Durkin and I hold a Masters Degree in School Counseling from Gonzaga University where I received the 2005 Educational Leadership Award from the department of Counselor Education. I have worked as a school counselor in diverse schools and am happy to have landed at Greenacres Elementary where I can put down some roots.

Some of the services I provide are:
• Individual counseling
• Small group counseling
• Classroom guidance
• Consultation
• Community resource referrals
• Facilitate the Student Study Team
• Manage Section 504 plans

I believe that all children can learn and that every child is unique and filled with strengths. These beliefs provide the foundation for my counseling program. I see my role as helping kids to be successful socially, emotionally, and academically. I also work with kids to overcome personal challenges and support personal goals.

I invite you to contact me with any questions or concerns. You can call me or schedule an appointment to meet with me.

I am a member of the American School Counselor Association, the Washington State Counseling Association, the National Education Association, and the Washington Education Association
