Accelerated Reader

Accelerated Reader is a reading program that motivates and encourages independent reading.

Find Accelerated Reader Books

How it works:
1. Our students utilize a database of over 4,621 titles.
2. Books are read by students at their own pace.
3. Short quizzes are given to students to verify comprehension.

Student progress is monitored by the Accelerated Reader program. The benefits of Accelerated Reader are the following:

  • Teaching is simplified. Teachers monitor a student's progress by automatically generated quiz results and reports. Alerts notify teachers when intervention is required.
  • Students have reading goals and are matched with books of the appropriate reading level.
  • Accelerated Reading is available in our classrooms, the computer lab, or our media center. It is utilized along with our guided reading and regular reading series.
  • Students choose the literature on their reading level that they prefer to read.
  • Instant feedback in the form of quizzes and progress reports track student achievement.
  • The Accelerated Reader program has congratulation screens.
  • The length and complexity of the book a student reads determines the points accumulated.
