March PTA Newsletter

Welcome back to Greenacres Middle School and a special welcome to the new students and their families. The Greenacres Parent Teacher Association (PTA) is a vehicle that brings parents, staff and students together toward achieving a goal of enhancing educational programs and providing excellence in our school.

The PTA Board wants to increase membership and parent involvement and to help keep the lines of communication open between the PTA, staff and parents. Even if you do not join the PTA, we would love to hear from you and welcome your support at our PTA sponsored events. 

During the middle school years, our children need our visible support and involvement. Last year the PTA sponsored events included three themed family dances and two book fairs. We are looking forward to sponsoring these again, as well as the Reflections art contest and possibly some other new events. With the funds that we raised last year, the PTA purchased the student planners, treats during the WASL testing, supported assemblies, Math Is Cool, and the Science Olympiad. We were also able to purchase 3 printers for the library, a stationary bicycle for the PE dept., a Microwave receiving tower, and (30) TI graphing calculators. Two major fundraisers are planned for this year, Entertainment book sales in September and Gift Wrap in October/November. Box Tops, Campbell Soup labels, and eScrip will continue throughout the year.

We encourage everyone to join Greenacres Middle School PTA and to support the many activities. Please watch the newsletter for upcoming events and meeting times.   We also hope to update this PTA area of the GMS website to highlight upcoming events. We welcome the sharing of ideas by everyone. Your energy is a vital part of our success.
