Greenacres Middle School PTA News
Welcome back to Greenacres Middle School and a special welcome to the new students and their families. The Greenacres Parent Teacher Association (PTA) is a vehicle that brings parents, staff and students together toward achieving a goal of enhancing educational programs and providing excellence in our school.
The PTA Board wants to increase membership and parent involvement and to help keep the lines of communication open between the PTA, staff and parents. We have been coordinating all of the data we received from the surveys we put out last year to everyone including our incoming 6th grade class. All of your opinions matter and all ideas and concerns have been taken into consideration. Thank you for taking the timeto share with us.
During the middle school years, our children need our visible support and involvement. One easy way to do this is by joining the PTA and attending PTA sponsored events. Last year these included the 50's dance , Reflections Contest, two Book Fairs, theme dances. We're looking forward to hosting these again along with some other new events. We also were able to help purchase new sewing machines for the Home and Family Department, a digital camera, additional curriculum for the spelling and reading program , art videos and much, much more. All of these were possible because of the great support we receive from our members and the community.
We encourage everyone to join Greenacres Middle School PTA and to support the many activities. Please watch the newsletter for upcoming events and meeting times or check out the web page calendar. We welcome the sharing of ideas by everyone. Your energy is a vital part of our success.
Coming Events and Fundraisers:
Our Entertainment Book, Gift Wrap sales, and Scholastic Book Fair were a success thanks to all the GMS families that participated. A special thanks to Julie Ward and Jodi Wende and all the volunteers who gave their time.
Reflections:
Congratulations to Brett Busch. His photography entry will be going to state to the PTA Reflections judging.
Honorable mentions go out to Aubrianna Hockett and Kelsey Glynn. These entries will be displayed at CV Days at the Mall.
"Reading is the Ticket"
This exciting reading incentive can earn your son or daughter a free Silverwood ticket. All they have to do is read for recreation for 10 hours from February 25th through March 18th. For more questions, call Melanie Phillips at 255-6641
"Fun in the Sun" PTA Family Dance
This Hawaiian themed dance will be held on Friday, February 22nd, 7-9 pm. Picture and food will be available for purchase.
