7th Grade Language Arts

This year in Language Arts we will be working on reading and writing throughout all of our curriculum.  Students will consentrate their writing efforts to four main areas of focus:

• Organization
• Style
• Content
• Conventions

The curriculum for this class is broken up into three trimesters.

In the first trimester students can expect:

• Narrative Essays

• Sentence Types
• Reading Strategies
• WASL Prep

In the second trimester students can expect:

• Narrative Essays
• Expository Essays
• District Writing Assesment
• Writing process - introductions, conclusions, elaboration, and transitions
• Reading short stories pertaining to Social Studies
• WASL Prep

In the third trimester students can expect:

• Poetry Unit
• Creative Writing
• Business Writing
• Research Paper

• Author Study
• Short Stories pertaining to Social Studies
• Readers Theater
