Strategic Reading

Welcome to Strategic Reading with Mrs. Bayle and Mrs. Hansen! This class offers specifically designed instruction to increase student fluency, vocabulary, comprehension and confidence in reading. We employ a wide variety of student-centered and one-on-one activities to foster growth and development in your child's reading ability. Some student favorites include: Fluency partner practice, Videos with subtitles and no audio, Apples to Apples, Computer Lab reading activities, Read-aloud practice with "Freak the Mighty."

To best help your child improve in these areas, please encourage your child to read everyday, they should have a book with them at all times. Along with this, please ask your child to read aloud to you from a simple picture book to build their confidence. Many students need practice with simple pronunciation and fluency, which quickly develops with reading aloud on a regular basis.
