SOCIAL STUDIES

We are gearing up for our China Fair in January. Please join us Friday, January 25 in the Greenacres Commons from 1:30-2:30 p.m. Students are working in groups of three creating a poster board with a focus on one of many areas of Ancient China, including the Great Wall, inventions, the Silk Road, Confucius, and many more. They will present their information along with their groups at this China Fair, and we really hope you can be there to share in their experience.

Following map skills, we turn our focus to the study of the Stone Age, the first of many ancient cultures and civilizations studied in the 6th grade. During study of the Stone Age students will be learning the 2-column note-taking skill.

Reading Requirement

Every student is required to silent read in social studies class everyday. Students are required to read 3 books first trimester, 4 books second trimester, and 5 books third trimester, all in their appropriate reading zone. This requirement counts as 25% of a student's grade each trimester.
