2009-2010 Greenacres Middle School Sports Seasons

Please check GMS website calendar or with your student athlete for up-to-date days and times of sports events.

Practices Begin for Greenacres Middle School Sports as Follows:

7th and 8th Grade Boys Football: Meeting September 2nd and Practice on 3rd, from 3-5 PM
Football equipment issue, paperwork collection and payment of fees. All football candidates need to attend. Necessary sports paperwork/ forms may be picked up in our front office when school office reopens Tuesday, August 24th, or you may print forms off from our district website: http://www.cvsd.org/pr_forms.asp. Student-athletes will need the Activity Eligibilty form and Football Athletic Safety Guidelines form.

7th and 8th Grade Girls Softball:
Meeting September 1st, 3 PM

Girls softball informational meeting, paperwork collection and payment of fees. Necessary sports paperwork/forms may be picked in our front office beginning August 24th, or you may print off forms from our district website: http://www.cvsd.org/pr_forms.asp. Student-athletes will need the Activity Eligibility form and Softball Athletic Safety Guidelines form.

7th and 8th Grade Girls and Boys Cross Country: September 8th
Cross Country begins. Necessary sports forms can be picked up in the office starting August 24th or you may print off forms from our district website: http://www.cvsd.org/pr_forms.asp. Student-athletes will need the Activity Eligibility form and Cross Country Athletic Safety guidelines form.

The following items will need to be turned in to the office before students may begin practicing.

Online Athletic Forms

GUIDELINES TO PARTICIPATE IN PRACTICE:

1. Sports Physical Form: Sports physicals are good for two years. The sports physical form is available in the school office. It is recommended that you make a copy of your physical form for summer sports camps next summer.

2. $15.00 ASB Fee: Paid annually. In addition, each sport has a $10.00 activity fee– football is $20.00.

3. Middle School Activities Eligibility form: signed by student and parents. This form includes an insurance waiver and emergency release.

4. Sports Safety Guidelines: This is signed by both student and parent for each sport. The Safety Guidelines will be turned in to the athletic director on the first day of practice.

5. Parent /Athlete signed concussion awareness form.

6. Participants may NOT practice until ALL forms have been turned in. Participants may not practice until all fines have been paid and ASB card purchased for the new year.

7. Hardship situations: If participation expenses are a problem, please contact the athletic director or the principal.

8. All school/library fines and fees paid or cleared.

Central Valley Middle Schools operate a no-cut athletic program. However, this does not mean that students will have equal playing time. When we have large turnouts, we have the ability to create one or two additional "junior varsity" teams to allow for more playing time for students-athletes.
