Del Guenther Named to State Science Leadership Team
Middle school science teacher Del Guenther was recently honored by the Central Valley School District Board for his commitment to teaching and leadership at the state and local level.
Guenther was selected to participate in the scoring of the Science Washington Assessment of Student Learning (WASL) last summer.
He was subsequently invited to become a member of the State Science Assessment Leadership Team (SALT). This team develops the Science WASL for grades 5, 8 and 10. Guenther is also actively involved in the development of science curriculum for Central Valley School District and participates on two district-wide committees.
- He has been a teacher for 27 years and has spent 23 years in the Central Valley School District
- Guenther is the science specialist for students in grades 7-8 at Summit School
He is also part of an integrated teaching team covering all subject areas.
Summit School is Central Valley School District's "choice" school, offering K-8 learning experiences in a non-traditional setting. The school focuses on critical thinking and reasoning skills with an emphasis on independent thinking, understanding varied perspectives, integrating various subjects, and applying classroom lessons to authentic settings.
