University High Presents Award-Winning Musical “Sweeney Todd”

The University High School Drama Department will perform “Sweeney Todd” October 29, 30, 31 and November 5, 6, 7. The famous operetta by Steven Sondheim, about one wronged man’s overwhelming desire for revenge that leads to his own demise, will feature senior Jordan Taylor as the title character and Kylene Peden as Mrs. Lovette, the role originated by Angela Lansbury. Other principal roles are played by Ross Mumford, Breanna Duffy, Nick Kim, Danny Bush, Jonathan Bademian and Ben Bartels. There are over 40 students in the first dramatic production of the school year.
The production is directed by University High Drama Director, Briane Green with musical direction by Choir Director, Russell Seaton. Tickets are $8 and reserved seating is available through the University High Business Office. The October 31 production will begin at 6 p.m. and audience members are encouraged to attend this special Halloween performance in costume. All other curtain times will be at 7 p.m. with the doors opening at 6:30 p.m. The content has been adapted for the high school stage and may not be suitable for younger children.
University High School serves more than 1,700 students in grades 9-12 and is one of 22 schools in the Central Valley School District.
