McDonald Elementary Recognized for Design Excellence

The renovation and modernization of McDonald Elementary School has been recognized for Educational Design Excellence by American School & University, a leading industry publication.

American School & University publishes an annual Architectural Portfolio honoring excellence in architectural design for schools nationwide.

A panel of judges reviews each submitted project and identifies those exhibiting outstanding concepts and program elements for their citation awards.

McDonald Elementary is featured on page 275 of the annual Architectural Portfolio 2004 issue. Originally built in 1956, McDonald Elementary was renovated during the 2002-2003 school year at a total cost of $4.7 million. The renovation included extensive additions. A new gymnasium, stage, multipurpose room, four new classrooms and administrative space make up about 16,000 square feet of new space. Architects West, Inc. designed the renovation.
