The artwork of two Central Valley High School students was honored in the recent Educational Service District 101 Regional High School Art Show.
Ronald Birch, a CVSD 10th grader, received first place honors for his watercolor painted pendant necklace embellished with copper foil, which he titled “Fury.” Molly Eyers, who is also a CVSD 10th grader, received a third place award for her untitled watercolor painted necklace.
Birch’s artwork will now be entered in the state Office of Public Instruction Superintendent’s High School Art Show. Winners of the state competition will be announced in May.
Birch and Eyers’ artwork will be on display with the other art show winners in the gallery of the Downtown Branch of the Spokane Public Library, 906 W. Main Ave., until April 8.
ESD 101’s annual high school art competition is open to high school students in any public or state-approved private school in the ESD 101 region. Artwork was judged on creativity, composition, and technique.
A slideshow of the regional winners can be found on the ESD 101 Web site.
