National Merit Scholars Announced

Central Valley High School is proud to recognize eight students who have been honored in the 2008 National Merit Scholarship Program.

Twelfth grade student Kyle Brown has been named as a semifinalist in the National Merit Scholarship Program, one of the most prestigious academic distinctions in the country. Kyle’s score on last year’s Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) was in the top one-half of one percent of all students in the nation (1.5 million) who took the test. He remains in the competition to be named a National Merit Finalist.

Seven fellow seniors were named “commended scholars” by the National Merit Scholarship Program for earning scores in the top five percent of all students taking the PSAT. These students are Kendra Brown, Kaleena Dobson, Ryan Fisher, Jared Mola, Lingbo Tong, David Wang and Randi Wilson.

The National Merit Scholarship Program was established in 1955 by the not-for-profit National Merit Scholarship Corporation. More than 10,500 of the most outstanding student participants receive scholarships worth a total of $50 million for college undergraduate study.

Congratulations!
