Members of the Central Valley High School Band performed for Governor Chris Gregoire at the Washington State Democratic Convention.
About 30 members of the Central Valley High School Band performed for Governor Chris Gregoire during the Washington State Democratic Convention at the Spokane Convention Center on June 14.
The band, who was asked to perform "party" music, played “Dazz” from their Lilac Parade performance as well as “Soulfinger”, “Tear the Roof Off the Sucker” and the school fight song. The band was recommended to the Governor’s staff as “the best in town.”
“We are all very humbled to think our community would recommend our program to perform for a state dignitary,” Central Valley High School's Director Eric Parker said before the performance. “We all feel we have to perform when called upon in order to truly deserve that reputation. Our kids love to perform and this should be fun!”
The Central Valley High School band has won numerous local, statewide and regional awards and includes a marching band, pep band and jazz band. The full band includes about 140 students.
Central Valley High School is one of 22 schools in the Central Valley School District.
