Dan Oster Honored as Wal-Mart “Teacher of the Year”
Barker High School teacher Dan Oster was part of a gathering of students and fellow staff members when the group was visited by representatives of the Spokane Valley Wal-Mart store, bearing balloons and gifts.
Oster was nominated by a student in the store’s annual Teacher of the Year contest. Store management selected Oster from among 150 entries to receive a $100 gift card, “Teacher of the Year” polo shirt, a framed certificate, a $1,000 check for Barker High School and a chance to enter the state-wide “Teacher of the Year” competition.
The nominating student, who will graduate in June, wrote… ”Dan has never once treated me different because I am a mom at a young age. He has been so helpful and understanding of my situation…He is the greatest teacher I have ever known.”
