Four Teachers Earn 2012 National Board Certification
The number of Central Valley School District educators holding National Board Certification increased again this year with the announcement that four more teachers have earned certification through the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS). The newly-certified teachers join a list of 53 district educators who have previously achieved this prestigious honor, bringing the district-wide total to 57.
Central Valley School District educators who achieved 2012 National Board Certification are listed below, along with the subject area of certification:
- Katie Bousley, Central Valley High School - Mathematics

Certification is a one to three year-long introspective process that requires teachers to submit a four part portfolio and a six-exercise content and pedagogy assessment. The 10 entries document a teacher’s success in the classroom as evidenced by his or her students’ learning. The certification is valid for ten years.
“Our National Board Certified teachers are a tremendous asset to our students and their fellow teachers, by proving their competency in the classroom and sharing what they have learned with their colleagues” said Ben Small, superintendent. “The certification process is a challenging but rewarding one, and we are proud that so many more Central Valley School District teachers have chosen to improve themselves by accepting this challenge.”
