INVESTED.ORG (formerly Saul & Dayee G. Haas Foundation)
The Saul & Dayee G. Haas Foundation has officially changed its name to InvestEd, a 501 (c) (3) organization, on May 20, 2010. While the name has been changed, the mission remains the same.
InvestED provides funding that supports the efforts of secondary schools throughout Washington state to immediately help students in need. Last year, more than 16,268 students statewide were assisted with small amounts of short-term, item-specific, need-based funding – items such as shoes, coats, glasses, sports equipment, and academic fees. This was a record number of students in their 47 years of being known as the Saul & Dayee G. Haas Foundation. Now as InvestEd, their goal remains to encourage students to stay in school, return to school, or get involved within their learning community. Your interest and support of these students is appreciated.
InvestED provides funding to students in need through partnerships with those closest to the student: the teachers, counselors, coaches, and staff at the student’s school. Once the InvestED Fund Coordinator learns of a student’s need, they can use the funding to help keep the student in school, to get the student more involved in school activities, or simply remove a roadblock to their success. At Evergreen individual grants were used for ASB fees, sports fees, sports shoes, FACSE fees, clothing and sports physicals.
Each August, InvestED provides an initial round of grants to eligible schools. The school principal along with two InvestED coordinators allocate funds as needed for specific student needs, including school activity fees, musical instruments, appropriate clothing or uniforms, and school supplies. The idea is to make funds available immediately with minimal bureaucracy. At the end of each year, schools report back to InvestED to share exactly how the funds were used.
Students in need of these services may contact Ms. Mary Naccarato, Evergreen school counselor. Additional information is available from the website, http://184.108.40.206/ .
InvestED relies upon donations from friends like you in the community to serve 16,200+ students statewide each year. Your gift of support makes an immediate impact in the lives of students in need. Support can range from $5 to $300, depending on the particular student’s need.
