Cultural
attributes of the Yurok’s
Food: The Yurok’s main foods were acorns
and salmon. They fished in the Klamath River.
Shelter: The Yurok lived in homes shaped as
rectangular structures made from cedar posts, poles, and split cedar planks.
Clothing: The Yurok’s wore animal hides. The
traditional dress of the Yurok men included a deerskin loincloth and deerskin
moccasins with elk hide soles. The women wore knee length deerskin skirts that
were heavily ornamted.
Beliefs: Yurok’s religious practices were
based on the belief that ages ago the Earth was inhabited by supernatural
beings in human form.
