The
Miami Tribe

Our unit on historic American culture allowed us to learn how
historic Americans from a certain tribe lived. The tribe I chose was called the
Miami tribe. After doing this project I have learned many
facts. In the following sentences I will tell you about this tribe. First, they hunted buffalo, deer, and bear.
They also collected or grew fruits and vegetables. They grew mainly corn and
picked cherries, plums and nuts.
The next important fact I learned was that they dressed really
fancy. They would sew deer hide together because it was the easiest to sew.
They would make necklaces and other jewelry out of shells and teeth.
The last example of what I learned was that the Miami tribe had lived in
longhouses that were thirty to one hundred feet long and twelve to fifteen feet
high. Their houses could hold thirty to sixty people in them. Those are a few
things I learned while studying this tribe.
