Walla Walla Culture

Food: The tribes of Walla Walla mainly ate fish (due to their location just

south of the Columbia River), and meat (from deer, birds, and occasionally

buffalo). They also ate soft roots from trees and berry plants.

Shelter: The tribes of Walla Walla were nomadic in turn causing them

to not have permanent homes. So they made their houses out of straw and

plank wood. For the Teepees that they used they left poles in the ground for

when they migrated back to that area.

Clothing: The tribes of Walla Walla both sexes wore deer skin in long

skirts and no top. The decorated it with paints made from berries and beads made of

bone.

Religion: The Walla Walla tribes worshiped “She who watches”, a female

chief turned to stone and ordered to watch over the people of the tribe.
