Changes in Middle School Football Fees
With the statewide budget cutbacks, the Central Valley School District has developed an overall plan to close the $3.4 million budget gap for the 2009-2010 school year. As part of that plan, at least $105,000 will be trimmed from district-wide extra/co-curricular expenses. The School Board members voted unanimously to implement an activity fee for the district’s middle school football program instead of eliminating the program. The fee levels below are set to recover at least $25,000 of the program’s costs, per School Board directive.
All middle school football athletes will continue to be assessed a $26 fee to be used for helmet and uniform rental along with the purchase of an ASB card.
In addition to these fees, all football athletes must pay an activity fee of $125. If a student/athlete qualifies for reduced-priced meals, the football activity fee will be reduced to $45. If a student/athlete qualifies for free meals, the football activity fee will not be assessed.
