2004 Annual Public Notice

 Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA)

As result of the 2004 AHERA 3-year reinspection, the following known or assumed asbestos containing building materials (ACBMs) have been identified in the Evergreen Middle School building.

Non-Friable ACBMs

•     Vinyl floor tile and adhesive (throughout)
•     Wire insulation (stage, lunch room)
•     Chalkboards (classrooms - mostly covered with whiteboards)
•     Fire doors (storage in 1st and 2nd floors)
•     Ebonite countertops (rms. 308, 309, 310)

Friable ACBM

•     None

All ACBM listed above were found to be in good condition and are being continually maintained in accordance with all Washington State and Federal laws.

Note:
In compliance with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Asbestos Hazard Emergency Act (AHERA), Central Valley School District contracted with Educational Service District 101 of Spokane, Washington to conduct the Three-Year Asbestos Reinspection of all school buildings. During August 2004, an EPA accredited asbestos Inspector and Management Planner performed the required inspection, reassessed each category of asbestos containing building materials (ACBM) and noted any significant changes from the 1989, 1992, 1995, 1998 and 2001 inspections. Reinspection will assist the school district in the process of safely managing each ACBM within our district.

The AHERA Reinspection Report and Management Plans are available to the general public and can be reviewed anytime during normal school hours. As required by AHERA, a designated person is available during regular business hours to answer any questions concerning ACBM in our buildings. The designated person can be contacted through the district office.
