GRIZ Club - Getting Rid of Incompletes/Zeros Club
Coordinator Mr. Parker jparker@cvsd.org
In an effort to increase student learning and accountablity for our students at Evergreen Middle School, we have implemented the GRIZ Club, Getting Rid of Incompletes / Zeros, an after school program for students that have incompleted or missing assignments. As a school, we believe that a student’s job is to learn. Attending school and completing assignments on a daily basis helps to assure that our students are learning and continuing to grow as adolescents.
If a student has an incomplete or missing assignment, the student will complete a GRIZ Club Assignment Sheet that specifies the assignment or work that needs to be completed. The teacher and/or student will contact the parent to make transportation arrangements prior to attending the GRIZ Club. The student will then take an assignment sheet and assignment with them to the library after school and work on it from 2:55 – 3:45 PM. If the student doesn’t complete the assignment, it will need to completed at home or the student will be assigned to the GRIZ Club the next day. Adults will be available to help tutor students with their work if necessary. The GRIZ Club meets Monday – Thursday and students must stay until 3:45 PM, even if the assignment is completed early. Student athletes that attend the GRIZ Club must also stay until 3:45 PM.
Questions about the GRIZ Club can be directed to Mr. Parker, Assistant Principal, at 228-4784.

In May, all 5 middle school media specialists select the top 20 students with the highest number of AR points to attend an AR Celebration. It is held at a different middle school each year and we have different authors come and give a presentation. The students get to enjoy pizza, pop and ice cream and the top winners from each school are recognized.
Scholar's Recognition Night
Coordinator Debbie Herman dherman@cvsd.org
At the beginning of May we recognize those students who have obtained a 3.5 grade point average or better for the first 2 trimesters of the school year. These students are honored at a presentation night where the students are awarded with certificates and/or pins for the number of years that they have acheived this accomplishment.
