School Programs and Operations Replacement Levy Information

Central Valley residents will be asked to consider a three-year School Programs and Operations Replacement Levy on the February 3, 2009 ballot. The proposed levy renews and replaces the district's current levy, which expires on December 2009. It is not a new tax.

Please take a moment to review the facts about this important issue using the links below.

For more information, contact the Central Valley School District Public Information Office at 228-5405.

Levy At a Glance

Not a New Tax - renews and replaces three-year levy expiring December 2009

Limited Timeframe - voter approval of levy for another three years

Funds the Gap - maintains essential educational programs and activities not funded by state and federal dollars

What’s the difference between a Bond and Levy?
A  bond pays for the construction of new or remodeled school buildings. A levy pays for day-to-day operations of schools including teachers, textbooks, supplies and extra-curricular programs not fully funded by Washington State. Both funding measures must be specifically approved by local voters.
