Professional Development Training Program -

Registration for Basic and PCT classes is now open.  Classes are filling fast.  Don't be left out!

ANOTHER NEW CLASS -

Para-Educators & Supervisory

          Begins January 14, 2010  4:30 - 6:30

               at Liberty Lake Elementary

Enhancing Instructional Support Services with English Language Learners  - This is a PCT class and open to Para-Educators and Supervisory.  It will be held at Liberty Lake Elementary on various weekdays and is a total of 8 hours.

Make sure to check back each week to see if new classes have been added.  We will announce the new classes on this page before any other information.

The online computer classes are still going, if you would like to take one, just click on Catalog.  Once you have read the description of the class, just click on "Choose Class" and it will take you to our registration page.  There is no limit to how many people can take each class.  If you completed Basic Computers, Windows Vista, Windows XP and one version of Microsoft Office, you have taken all the online classes we have to offer.  It is now time to take a hands-on class.  We do have one offered in the Spring which is full at the moment, but email Betty at bfoley@cvsd.org to get on a waiting list.

You are able to register at your building or at home.  Just go to CVSD.org, Teaching & Learning, Classified Staff Development, Register (upper right corner). Make sure to fill in all the information required, including location where you work.  After registering for your first class, just click on register for another class and all the information will be filled in except your location which needs to be filled in each time.  If it is the first online class you have registered for, you will receive an email at your district URL explaining how to proceed with the classes.  As you add more online classes by our usual registration process, you will see the additional classes listed on your page.  There will not be a email after the first time to tell you another class has been added.

I HAVE COMPLETED BASIC, NOW WHAT? - The school district will be offering a variety of classes for those who have completed the Basic Strand.  The next strand is called PCT - Professional Classification Training.  The PCT strand will be job specific.  There will be a number of electives which any classification could take.  If someone is just getting started this year in Basic, they can also take the classes from PCT once they have completed 30 hours of Basic.  Until the Basic Strand is completed, there will be no incentive pay for any of the classes.

This year classes will be held at Bowdish Middle School, Horizon Middle School, Liberty Lake Elementary, Opportunity Elementary, South Pines Elementary and the LTC Board Room.  The Basic classes will be held twice during the school year (Fall, Winter. and Spring). Registration will be online again this year.

PCT CLASSES CONTINUE - Most classes in PCT will only be offered once unless we have enough staff interested to fill another class.  Any required classes will be offered twice.  Please email any questions to bfoley@cvsd.org and you will receive an answer within 24 hours.

100 HOURS COMPLETED - We have received paperwork from the first person to complete her first 100 hours.  It is important to remember that the required classes must be included in that 100 hours to receive your pay raise.  Foundations of Business Ethics- Level 1 & 2 and Handling Confrontation & Conflict are the required classes.  These classes total 12 hours of instruction.

I HAVE 102 HOURS - WHAT DO I DO?  Turn in your paperwork and you will receive a letter/certificate verifying that you are carrying over 2 hours into the next year.  This will be turned in with your next completion card.  In some cases, it just is not possible to turn in exactly 100 hours.  Rather than split a class, we have decided to use this method to carryover hours over 100.

Please keep checking our page for new information.
