Classroom Environment

In the library media center, students are learning how to become information literate. This means that students are learning how to locate the information that best meets their needs, how to evaluate that information for relevancy, and how to use that information. The goal of the library media center is to help students become independent life-long learners. Students learn a variety of skills each class session to work towards that goal.

Schedule

Our school hours are from 9:10 to 3:10. Each class at Chester is scheduled for time in the library each week. In the Library Media Center, we learn information skills such as: how to use the different resources available--dictionary, thesaurus, encyclopedia, and atlas; how to do basic research, basic computer/technology skills, and general library skills. 5th grade helpers come in Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday during lunch recess to assist in reshelving books and various library duties. If you would like to know when you student has Library Class, Music Class, or Health & Fitness Class, you can click on the link on the right hand side.

About Me

I am married with four boys. I chose to be an at-home mom while my boys were growing up. I graduated from Eastern Washington University with my oldest son in 2004. While I was attending school, I worked as a special ed. preschool paraprofessional at Sunset Elementary in Airway Heights. I did both my student teaching and my library media training at Sunset. Upon graduation, I worked for two years at Connell High School in Connell. I joined the Chester staff in the fall of 2006. I am currently taking courses for my Master's degree. I really enjoy working with the Chester students and the Chester community.
