Classroom Environment
In order to create a positive learning environment in which all of the children can work to their full potential, I have a classroom management plan that includes class meetings emphasizing respect and responsibility. I feel it is necessary for children to understand that every choice they make will have a positive or negative consequence. My goal is to increase their awareness and help them to be responsible for their choices.
I also believe children need to feel empowered by understanding that they can make a difference every day by helping others at home, school and in their community. We are involved in a variety of activities to encourage and support this thinking.
By encouraging collaboration, complex thinking and creative final products, I hope the children in my classroom will contemplate their hopes, dreams and desires. I will encourage their perseverance and risk-taking to achieve these hopes and dreams.
My interaction with your children, the activities I plan and the management of my classroom environment will reflect these ideas.
About Me
I have been teaching in Central Valley School District for 29 years. I have taught grades 1,2,3,5, and 6. I have 4 children of my own and love spending any free time with them, even if it means traveling to colleges in western Washington!
