Skill CenterBy attending the New Tech Skill Center, junior and senior-level high school students have the opportunity to: · Attend Career & Technical Education courses; · Earn 1½ high school credits per semester; · Earn program and/or industry-recognized certifications; · Enter the community college system with advanced placement standing and/or college credits through articulation agreements with the colleges. All CVHS students who have Spokane Skill Center classes will come to CVHS the first day of school, September 5. Transportation: CV (morning only) Skill Center bus runs will start on Thursday, September 6. The Skill Center is located at 4141 N. Regal. Buses from CVHS depart immediately at 7:30 from our bus lanes on the south side of CVHS. Students must be prompt! Busses can not wait for tardy students. Students are also allowed to drive themselves; however, this option is up to the parent’s/guardian’s discretion. Afternoon Skill Center students and Aero Space/Advanced Manufacturing Program students must provide their own transportation. Students need to find their own transportation to CV on Thursday mornings to catch the 7:30 a.m. Skill Center bus. All District buses run later on Thursdays due to teacher collaboration and are not available to get students to school before the Skill Center bus leaves CV. Lunch: We recommend students bring their own lunch as time is very limited in transferring between the two schools. Absences: Absences must be called in to the Skill Center as well as CVHS. The attendance line at the Skill Center is 354-7400 and Central Valley’s attendance line is 228-5101. Since Skill Center is a Spokane Public School, their calendar is slightly different than Central Valley’s. Holidays and inservice days do not necessarily coincide. District 81 Calendar CVSD Calendar Skill Center students are still responsible for meeting all high school requirements including: ·Graduation requirements ·The Culminating Project ·Daily/weekly bulletins, which inform students of school and class activities, pictures, graduation information, scholarships, testing information and dates, etc. Most of this information is distributed during Advisory. Information: Students who have morning Skill Center will not be in Advisory. Therefore, daily and weekly bulletins are available on top of the Skill Center file cabinet which is located in the Counseling Center. Each morning Skill Center student will have a personalized file.
