Team Sports
Course Description: Team Sports is a course designed to improve student understanding and application of the principles of health and fitness. Students will learn about the components of fitness and activity through a variety of team sports. Cardiovascular and Course Requirements/Assignments: · Students will dress down daily and participate in assigned sport or activity. · Handouts and notes will be given regarding safety and rules for each sport. · Students will create and keep a fitness profile on the five components of fitness including their baseline assessment and goals. · Written tests will be given on each sport played during the semester. · Pre and post fitness testing using the Physical Best assessment tool. Grading Policy: Letter grades generally reflect mastery of skills as defined by state Grade Level Expectations as Essential Academic Learning Requirements. Attendance: 50% of grade Attitude and effort: 30% Written work: 20% Grades will follow the adopted district high school grading scale: muscles strength conditioning will be a part of everyday in conjunction with: softball, flag football, soccer, lacrosse, team handball, ultimate Frisbee, indoor soccer, basketball, volleyball, and floor hockey.
