Cardio Fit

Course Description:  This  class is aimed at improving total fitness through a variety of components; aerobic fitness, flexibility, muscular strength and endurance, body composition, and nutrition. Activities used to achieve this goal include: aerobic exercise, step training, circuit training, and conditioning using stability balls , wts, and resistance bands. Personal goals will be set and regularly evaluated.

Objectives: 1. To improve cardiovascular endurance.
                     2. To understand heart rates and their effect on total fitness.
                     3. To understand basic nutrition and it’s effect on total fitness and functioning.
                     4. To set personal goals for fitness and lifestyle choices for healthy living.
                     5. To become self evaluators of  personal fitness.
                     6. To understand the physical, social, and mental aspects of health.
                     7. To design a long range fitness plan incorporating course concepts.

   Course Requirements/Assignments:

1. Active participation is required on a daily basis
2. Dressing down daily is required and failure to do so will result in loss of points and possible disciplinary  action.
3. Various assignments and/or projects will be given in regard to goal setting, heart rate function, nutrition, components of fitness, as well as a culminating project incorporating course concepts.
4. Students will be expected to record times, distances and heart rates with the instructor.
5. Effort is a huge portion of student responsibility in this class and is a graded component.

Grading Policy: Letter grades generally reflect mastery of skills as defined by state Grade Level Expectations as Essential Academic Learning Requirements.
