Course Overview:
Course Objectives | This class will introduce metalsmithing techniques fundamental to the jewelry making process. Techniques will include designing, sawing, filing, soldering, stone setting, finishing and lost wax casting.
This course will teach basic math, language, drawing and jewelry techniques. Students will become familiar with a variety of tools and their uses. |
Material List: | - Guidelines signed by student and parent
- Box-6”x4”x2”, soft flannel cloth
- Notebook with paper, pen ,pencil and an envelop.

Classroom Requirements and Policies:
| A class of this quality is impossible to maintain without the help of responsible students. - You will need to be in your seat at the ringing of the tardy and dismissal bell.
- You will need to be on task daily, follow all safety rules and respect the use and care of all tools.
- You will need to cleanup after yourself as well as have a daily chore to carry out for the class.
- No hats, hoods or audio devices because of safety issues.
- Keep your backpack out of the isles where we walk.
- All late work is graded down 1 letter grade or 10%.
- Work missed during an unexcused absence may not be made up.
- One project grade may be substituted up by a written research paper with prior teacher approval.
- All work is to be original.
- All students must pass a safety test with 100% proficiency, turn in signed guidelines, and then complete the written assignment for each project before they may begin working with tools and equipment.
- All materials are to be accounted for on your project sheets. Type, size and prices of all purchased are to be recorded and signed off by the teacher. They will be recorded on your classroom account for reimbursement to the school. All purchases over the cost of the arts fee will be charged as a student fine at the end of the semester.

Grading Policy: | Letter grades generally reflect mastery of skills as defined by state Grade Level Expectations and Essential Academic Learning Requirements.

Policies for Make-up or Late Work

Semester Calendar/Schedule | Do not fall behind with your work. Use student access time before school to catch up if you are behind in your work. You have one additional day to turn in work for each excused absence. Textbook: none, however, there is a semester packet of lessons which has a replacement cost of $2.00 Progress checks are sent home three times during the semester. Dates to be posted. 1st 2nd 3rd
