Drawing

Central Valley High School Instructor, Mrs. Sherry Carson

Drawing is an expression of creation. There is evidence of early man's primitive drawings in the form of petroglyphs and pictographs all over the word. Technique and ability improved through out the ages until 1525 during the Renaissance when the Italian Leone Batista Alberti wrote the first books on the arts. These books on painting, architecture and sculpture contained concepts which became universal and codified as the Elements of Art and the Principles of Design. All of our art classes  at Central Valley teach these elements and principles as they relate to composition. In drawing a variety of technique and media is explored and students are encouraged to create original works bases on structured lessons.
