An informal assessment will take place for all students entering band at Central Valley HS. This is to assure your placement into the ensemble that is just right for you. Don't be worried if the idea of an audition worries you. The skills you demonstrate are only to place you in the correct group - everyone that wants to be in band will have that opportunity.
Incoming freshmen, Mr. Parker will come down to your respective middle schools in the coming weeks to make sure you have all the information you need, including music materials and resources for your questions that pop up later. Near the end of May, Mr. Parker will visit you again to hear you play the assigned sections. If you lose your music or scales, no worries - it's going to all be available on this website.
Marching Band percussion assignments will happen in June, more information will come to you in a month to prepare for that.

If you come across the word STOP in your solo - you do not need to prepare the remaining music.

Percussion Class Auditions
Percussion class will be divided into three groups based on experience, and skill. The top 6 - 8 students will exclusively perform with the CV Wind Ensemble all year.
The remaining students will be divided into two equally strong groups - one assigned to Symphonic Band music and the other to the music of Concert Winds.
All current CV students must complete the assessment in mid may - as outlined above. Please pick two of the following skills to demonstrate. Downloads are available in the right column of this page.
