Course Description: Students will work in teams to design, plan, and implement projects related to current foods and nutritional needs of individuals and families. Students will work with community resources while researching a nutrition issue. Computers and other multi-media programs will help analyze and improve food related decisions.

Course Requirements/Assignments: Each of the following topics will be included in the curriculum with special attention to incorporating the National Standards for Family and Consumer Science.

  • Cooking Techniques and Tools
  • Kitchen Equipment
  • Preparation Techniques and Principles
  • Consumer Awareness
  • Meal Planning
  • Researching and Presenting special-interest topics
