Budget, Tax Rates and Bond/Levy History

Overview
Central Valley School District's Board of Directors approves the district's annual budget in August of each year, for the upcoming school year. The School Board also certifies annual levy amounts for general fund and debt service funds to be collected from taxpayers on the district's behalf by the Spokane County Treasurer's Office. More information about the district's budget and tax rates are included on this page. Questions? Call 228-5460.

Funding
The Central Valley School District’s 2012/2013 general fund budget is $114.05 million. The district receives funding from state, federal and local sources. More than 70 percent of the district’s funding comes from the State of Washington. The remaining revenues flow from local taxpayers via the School Programs and Operations levy ($22.9 million), the federal government ($8.2 million) and other sources ($4 million). The district also maintains separate funds for capital projects, transportation vehicles, debt service and Associated Student Body (ASB) activities.

Tax Rate History
About $4.2 million will be rolled back from the voter-approved levy tax roll amounts for Central Valley taxpayers in 2013. The decrease is due to receipt of levy equalization funding from the state and is based on the Spokane County assessor's estimate of property values. The tax rates below represent the rate per $1,000 of assessed property valuation.
