Broadway Using Block Schedule Broadway is operating under a block schedule this year to provide uninterrupted learning time for reading, writing, math and science. After reviewing the research over the past several years, we have learned that students need uninterrupted blocks of time to enhance and gain the skills and knowledge needed to be successful. The schedule blocks learning times for each grade level so that they are teaching and learning the same subject at the same time. The block also allows teachers period of time within the school day to collaborate and plan instruction based on assessment information and student’s needs. Additional services provided through PIP, Resource Room and Academic Support are also blocked so that the students receiving the additional learning support are not out of the classroom during key instructional time. This is the first year of the block schedule and we have made some minor adjustments but feel that it will work well for our students.
