Theme 5- Family Time
In this theme, students will read realistic fiction and nonfiction stories about families. They will find out what makes each of these families special. In phonics the children will learn about base words with the endings -er, -ed, -ing, -le, silent consonants, and the sound of y at the end of longer words. In comprehension, they will continue practicing the following strategies: evaluate, question, predict/infer, monitor/clarifying, and the skills of making generalizations, following directions, making judgements, and sequence of events. Students will be learning about present and past verb tenses in grammar.
