Theme 4 - Amazing Animals

In this theme, students will read fiction and nonfiction stories about amazing animals. In phonics the children will learn about r-controlled vowels; words with nd, nt, mp, ng, nk; base words with the endings -s, -es, -ies and the vowel pairs oa and ow.. In comprehension, they will continue practicing the following strategies: monitor/clarifying, question, summarize and the skills of drawing conclusions, text organiation, and cause and effect.
