Theme 3 - Around Town: Neighborhood and Community
In this theme the stories are about different kinds of neighborhoods. Some of the stories are realistic fiction and some non-fiction. The phonics skills are: consonant diagraphs: th, wh, sh, ch (tch); vowel pairs: ai, ay, ow, ou, ee, ea; base words and endings: -er and -est. We will also be working on compound words and suffixes. We will continue our work on summarizing, questioning, prediction, evaluating, making judgements, topic, main ideas and details. We are working on naming words, special nouns, and nouns that change spelling with plurals in Grammar.
