Theme Two - Nature Walk

In this theme all the stories are about nature. Some of these stories are realistic fiction and some are non-fiction. The phonics skills are: long vowels CVCe with o, u, and e; two sounds for g; consonant clusters (r, l, s); two sounds for c; double consonants; and VCV pattern. We will be working on the reading strategies of: questioning, evaluating, monitoring/clarifying, and phonics/decoding. We also work on comparing and contrasting, fact and opinion, and categorizing and classifying. As always we continue our work on building reading fluency. In grammar we will continue telling sentences and questions and begin commands and review exclamations. We will be working on answering questions, making complete sentences, paragraphs, main ideas and details in writing.
