About Us
Barker High School offers a non-traditional setting for students in grades 9-12 who wish to earn a high school diploma in the Central Valley School District. As a choice program, our students enjoy a variety of instructional and learning strategies that focus on the Washington State Learning Goals. Both students and staff strive toward a common academic purpose as well as an emphasis on teamwork, participation, self-respect and respect for others. To bolster these efforts, continual emphasis on a supportive learning environment is critical. Our staff strongly believes in acknowledging the diverse characteristics of students and believes that it is imperative to provide opportunities for students to set educational goals and develop personalized plans. We work with students to measure their progress with continual and frequent monitoring of learning and teaching, a strategy embedded in the structure and practices of Barker High School.
