Teacher & Paraprofessional Qualifications

Under ESSA, you have the right to request information regarding the professional qualifications of your child’s classroom teacher(s). If your child also receives services from a Title I paraprofessional, you have the right to request information regarding his or her professional qualifications, as well. If you request this information, our district Human Resources office will provide you with the following as soon as possible:
  1. Whether or not the teacher has met Washington’s licensing requirements for the grade level(s) and core academic subject(s) taught by the teacher;
  2. If the teacher is teaching under an emergency status for which state licensing requirements have been waived;
  3. The education level and subject area (field of discipline) of the teacher’s college degree major and for any graduate degree or certificate; and
  4. If your child is receiving Title I services from paraprofessionals, his or her qualifications.
