Accounting & Accounts Payable

The Accounting Department performs the following functions in support of district operations:

  • Records district financial transactions in accordance with federal, state, and district regulations
  • Oversees receipt and deposit of cash throughout the district
  • Manages investment transactions in conjunction with the Spokane County Treasurer’s Office
  • Provides fiscal reporting and other financial information to the district, the public, and state and federal agencies
  • Coordinates development of the district’s budget and monitors compliance to budget
  • Provides grant accounting and reporting
  • Issues payments to suppliers for goods and services
  • Issues payments to employees for reimbursement of travel and expense reimbursements
  • Prepares billings for building rentals, reimbursements, grants, etc.
  • Establishes and monitors internal controls to effectively maintain the integrity of financial records, safeguard district assets, and comply with state and federal regulations
  • Acts as district liaison to the Washington State Auditor’s Office
